About PicsPivot: Free Image Tools That Keep Photos Private

Why PicsPivot exists

Most image jobs are small. A photo is too heavy for an upload form. An iPhone picture arrives as HEIC and the website you need will not take it. A profile picture has to be square. A holiday snap is about to go online with the exact location of your house hidden inside it.

None of these should need an account, a waiting room or a watermark across the result. Yet a lot of image sites still want your photo on their servers before they will touch it. PicsPivot was built to do these jobs quickly, for free, and wherever possible without your photo ever leaving your own device.

Who makes it

PicsPivot is made by the team behind ToolsPivot, the free online tools site founded by Nadeem Raza. Our image tools started life inside DocuPivot, the document and image suite on ToolsPivot. As the image side grew to 58 tools, it earned a home of its own, with a name that says what it does. The PDF and document tools carry on at our sister site DocuPivot.

The people, the code and the rules about your files are the same. Only the address is new.

Your photo stays with you

50 of our 58 tools run entirely in your browser. Compression, resizing, cropping, format conversion, colour adjustments and the rest are handled by encoders that run on your own computer or phone, including MozJPEG, OxiPNG, libwebp and libavif compiled to WebAssembly. For those tools the image is never uploaded, so there is nothing of yours on our side to protect, keep or delete.

8 tools need our server: the HEIC and TIFF converters. Browsers cannot reliably open those formats on their own, so the file is sent to us, converted by software running on our own server, and deleted within 30 minutes, whether or not you downloaded the result. It is not passed to anyone else. Our Privacy Policy spells out exactly which actions touch the server and what happens there.

The data hiding in your pictures

Phones and cameras quietly write EXIF metadata into every photo: the device model, the date and time, and often the GPS coordinates of where it was taken. Share the original file and you share all of that.

Our browser tools re-encode the image, which drops that metadata by default. If you want to see what a photo is carrying first, open it in the EXIF Viewer. If you only want the metadata gone and the picture left exactly as it is, Remove Metadata from Photo strips it without compressing the image again.

What you can do here

  • Make images smaller. The Image Compressor shrinks JPG, PNG, WebP and AVIF files, and the Image Resizer sets exact dimensions for a form, a shop listing or a social post.
  • Convert between formats. The Image Converter and dedicated converters cover JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, HEIC, TIFF, GIF, BMP, ICO and SVG. HEIC to JPG is the one most iPhone owners come for.
  • Fix and edit. Crop, rotate, brighten, blur, turn to grayscale, split one picture into tiles, or build a collage or a meme.
  • Protect what you share. Add a watermark, check a photo's metadata, or remove it before posting.
  • Prepare images for the web. Generate a favicon, turn an image into base64 for your code, or trace a picture into SVG.

Most tools take a batch: up to 30 images at a time in the browser, and up to 50 photos at a time in the HEIC and TIFF converters.

Honest about the limits

Because the work happens on your device, speed depends on your device. A large batch on an older phone will take longer than on a desktop. Compression is a trade between file size and quality, and we show you the result rather than promise a number. The HEIC and TIFF converters allow 120 photos an hour per visitor so the server stays quick for everyone. When a tool cannot do something, we would rather say so than hand you a broken file.

Free, and how it is paid for

There is no account to create, no sign-up, no watermark on your results, no reduced resolution and no paid tier waiting behind the free one. PicsPivot is funded by advertising through Google AdSense. That is the whole arrangement, and we do not sell your personal information.

In your language

PicsPivot is available in English, Spanish, Indonesian, Portuguese, French, Chinese, Arabic and Russian.
